You may be affected by the government’s proposed new Immigration plans. Read about the benefits of English training to see if it is something you should be undertaking this year.

Government Immigration Plans

New government post-Brexit Immigration plans have been unveiled and it means that a lot of UK companies could be facing staffing uncertainties. If the plans are passed, companies employing “low-skilled” workers may struggle from the 31st December 2020 to find new immigrant workers to fill their roles. Areas of high employment of foreign workers include warehousing, hospitality, care, health and construction. According to The Guardian, Confederation of British Industry Director General, Carolyn Fairbairn, warned that in “some sectors, firms would be left wondering how they would recruit the people needed to run their businesses”. We are being told that these companies should invest in and reassure their current staff. Moreover, foreign workers currently living and working in the UK can still apply for settled status which will allow them to remain in the UK. For more information please see the Government’s website.
