The weekly English for Hospitality classes are held in Hawksmoor’s Air Street restaurant and are open to all employees, which is a great staff benefit. Lachlan is thoroughly enjoying teaching the new group and says they are an engaging group of learners.
As well as working on pronunciation and vocabulary, Lachlan uses original material such as the Hawksmoor menus and staff manual as a basis for discussion and role-plays.
He is keeping the delegates busy with homework which is uploaded to the firm’s Workplace Facebook site. Despite the homework, Lachlan is proving very popular with everyone!
Delegates on the course include commis chefs, kitchen porters, runners, pastry chefs and bar backs.
Former HR Manager Mirjam Saar said: “We would highly recommend CLT to any company that’s willing to invest in their staff and their personal development.
CLT recognises that every student has different development needs therefore all classes are tailored to a certain level of spoken and written English as well as paying attention to every student’s individual needs by doing some 1 to 1 coaching during lessons and focusing on specific homework.
We can tell the lessons have made a difference for those attending – Our employees appreciate the opportunity given to them and they are much more confident at work – we in return want to keep supporting them in their careers and hopefully we are able to see more and more people getting promoted in their jobs.”
Hawksmoor have recently opened a brand new restaurant in Borough, so hopefully we’ll be welcoming some new attendees on the course very soon!
